Yourself!Fitness

Because I truely want to be healthy, I am not just dieting, I am excercising my butt off... hehe. I heard about this program (Yourself!Fitness) on Good Morning America a few weeks ago and had to check it out. I looked in the stores but couldn't find it. I ended up getting it at Amazon.com.

Basically, Y!F is a personal trainer in an XBox. Sounds wierd, I know. When you first start, Maya (the virtual trainer) does a fitness evaluation on you and assesses your goals. I put in my weight, did jumping jacks for 2 minutes (much harder than I thought), did as many push-ups as I could, as many squats as I could, and as many crunches as I could. Later in the "game" Maya will test me again to track my progress. I think that will be an easy way for forgetful me to remember to evaluate my progress.

I'm also going to post my measurements here (get it all out, won't you Tracey?). I may seem a little psychotic about all this, but I am for real this time. When I told Michael about how serious I was, he jokingly said, "I'll believe it when I see it." He wasn't being mean or insensitive... just realistic. I think he also knew what a drive that is to me. Now I'm going to prove it. I will be a hot mama! :-D

Now for more *wince* outing of myself-

Calf R-17.5 L-18
Thigh R-29 L-29
Hips 49
Waist 39.5
Chest 42
Upper Arm R-15 L-15
Neck 14.5

Taking measurements is a great idea. I also took pictures (not a fun process), but it helped to keep me honest with myself, and now I can see how far I've come and how far I still have to go.

Just remember that changing lifestyles takes practice. There will be set backs, but the key is to keep trying. The more you try, the easier it becomes, and the more ingrained the changes become.

I really love working with Maya (I got the Yourself!Fitness when it was first published in October). I have never stuck to a workout regimine for this long. I would get bored and start to slack off. When I would slack off the exercise, the weight would stop dropping and I would get discouraged. It happens, but I then would try again and here I am 6 years later down 60 lbs (with 30 more to go).

I know you can do it! Keep up the good work!!

The rest breaks can be tedious but it usually gives me a chance to get my stepper, workout mat or weights together, in front of the computer, before the next exercise. I like all the music so far and don't care where Maya works out since I'll still be at home doing the same exact exercises anyway. I don't know if I will stop going to the gym altogether, but there is a possibility. Males, if they wanted to be muscular yet lean, could use Yourself Fitness to their benefit if they used heavy enough weights.
