Ah-vi-pah

Do you know what this word means? Connor kept saying it over and over when he talked about school. I finally figured out it was the name of one of his friends, but when I repeated it back to him, he got very upset. "NOooo!" he'd say and then yell "AH-VI-PAH!" back at me. For about 2 weeks I was at a loss. I had no idea what name could sound close to that. I just figured it was a non-English name and I might eventually ask his teacher about it. Well finally, one day on the way home from school, it dawned on me. "Connor, is your friend Oliver?" I asked, tentatively. "Yes, mommy! YES!" he said, "cha-ching" style. Crisis averted.
