Babies in the Snow
So we've had a nice little day at home today. As I said, practically the whole state shut down. Significantly for us, that meant Connor's flu shot appointment was canceled again. Let me tell you how heartbroken I was. Can you see my tears? I think I am going to take this as a sign that he doesn't really need the flu shot that badly. Boo hoo.
We headed out right after lunch for a little snow time. The kiddos got to try out their fancy new duds - boots and snowsuits. Both handled them well, although Clara couldn't get up if she fell over. It was very funny. I started out carrying her across the street to be social and she began her all to familiar cry of "WA! WA!" (meaning, of course, walk!) I would set her down, look for Connor (off playing), and turn back to her on her hands and knees. I gave her time to figure it out, but soon the cries for "Hep!" would begin. Eventually she just gave up and started crying "Hep!" as soon as she bit the dust. All in all, they both enjoyed it. Hopefully, it's not too icy in the morning to get some fun snow time in!

Dec 1st
Brought our first snow of the season! As I was nagging Connor to put his socks and shoes on and as he was dancing around and generally ignoring me as usual, he looked out the window. What is it doing except pouring down snow! I mean pouring, which was really odd because the sun was shining. We literally had a snow shower. In two minutes it was finished. Connor was sad (he had immediately run to put on his snow pants), but I was not. We really needed to get to Target!
It should snow more tomorrow and Monday... we'll see if anything other than slush comes of it. Gotta love those forecasts that are rain turning to snow turning to rain turning to snow....

Wacko weather
Yup. Everyone jokes that this phenomenon is unique to their area, but I believe it happens everywhere at one time of the year or another. You know what I'm talking about... the dramatic temperature/weather change. My most recent experience with this occurred over the last few days.
On Thursday it was beautiful here. It was jacket weather (if you stayed out of the wind *sigh* but that's another topic) and the sun was bright and warm. We enjoyed time outside and to Connor's delight we hit up the park several times in one day. All the children in my house took lovely long naps due to the fresh air and exercise. Mommy got to be social with some neighbors. Life was good.

Then came the change. That evening it began to get cloudy. Then the wind really started blowing (although you almost couldn't make out a difference from the normal state of things). In the morning there was a good coating of snow and it was still coming down.

It continued to snow all day. Then by the time Michael and I went to bed, it had turned to sleet. Yuck! This morning, what looked like snow had an icy crust on it. Fortunately, they are really good at keeping the roads clear here!

Snow!
Yet another snow day! And a pretty big one to boot! The last few weeks it has snowed about an inch overnight once a week. Last night we got about 4 inches! We're supposedly getting 2-4 more today. It's pretty warm out, so I'm sure it will rain a little. Right now it's "misting" snow. I shoveled the walk and the driveway and then we went across the street to be social and play in the snow. This is Connor playing last Friday.
The last couple of snows have been good for packing, so he's found the joy of snowballs and we made a pretty big snowman butt. Connor didn't want to make anymore big balls, so we just have a snowman butt sitting in our side yard. It's funny if you know what it is.
On the house front things are going well. It's been shown quite a few times already this weekend. I'm hoping to hear about an offer today. One of the showing agents said there was an 85% chance his/her clients would put in an offer. That would be nice... but it's kind of like an 85% chance of snow in VA - there's hope, but it probably won't happen. Of course, I say that in my brain, but I'm still waiting anxiously. More later!

Crying
Yes, I am. Right now. The short of it is, we are selling our house and I am sad. After many months of waiting to find tenants, we have decided to "get rid of it". We want to be able to buy a house in our next location with no problems. We want to have some savings left. We think it will be the easiest thing. Only now that we are in the process, it is real. Boohoo. Two days after we closed on that house I found out I was pregnant with Connor. I was finally able to have colored walls in that house. I was pregnant with Clara there. I was a new mommy twice there. Basically, that house is our home. It's where we became a family. I am sad.
Michael just called (he's on duty). I told him how I was sad. He said, "I'm not. It's time to move on." Men. He doesn't get it. Or he's in denial and will have his own moment in a while. Right.
I feel the need to post pictures of my beautiful babies.

I took advantage of the sun reflecting off the SNOW to take these. I'm trying to take a page from Ali and be happy with my somewhat fuzzy, but beautifully naturally lit photos. I didn't even wipe the ketchup off of Connor's face. I wanted real. Boogers, baby food, dark circles, marker, ketchup, and all. Those are my kids!

3 Years Old!
Today is Connor's birthday! My sweet boy is 3! He has grown up so much in the last few weeks (again). He is really a little boy now. God sent him a special present today... snow! It was the first time the snow has actually accumulated (although not much). While Clara napped we headed out to catch a snowflake on our tongues and then Connor's friends from behind us joined in. They had fun snow toys (sleds!) so Connor had a great time playing. Fortunately, everybody decided to head inside about the same time. There was only a little disappointment when I said we needed to go in. That or Connor felt like a popsicle!

More to come later!

Surprise!
So the snow was a bust yesterday, but to our surprise it was snowing this morning.
It's hard to see in the picture... just look at the brown house on the left. Hehe. Although the weatherman was convinced it was only snowing around Hartford, we got snow for about an hour and a half. Everything that was wet/frozen is covered and everything else is lightly dusted. I could tell it was dying out when I could once again see the hill "behind" our house.
I thought this was the perfect moment to show off our funny winter weather gear.
This is Connor's first day in his coat. I promptly bought him a new, smaller coat. I about fell over laughing when he crawled into the car in this one. The front of the coat came up over his head. He didn't think it was as funny as I did. Poor kid. :-D Hehe.
This is Clara's "marshmallow suit". Although you wouldn't know it from this picture, she's normally quite happy in it. So far she only wears it when we take walks... it doesn't really fit in her car seat carrier thing very well. I guess it's time to get her a real car seat...
*sigh* We need renters sooo bad. I don't want to be in debt. Yesterday was our first day of paying the mortgage out of savings. Ouch! I'm rather proud of my savings account. I will be really sad if it disappears, especially since I'm not working. Hmm... maybe I should work on that. You know, just in case. *sigh* Man, I hate worrying about money. We've been so careful not to be in that kind of position... I guess I just need to release this and not worry about it until it needs worrying.
Well, hopefully the snow melts off the roads fast... we have errands to do! ~:-)
